Brief description
This is a founding engineer role for a startup creating a platform for private-practice speech therapists that work with children with speech or communication disorders.
Their product is to speech therapists what something like shopify is to an ecommerce company, meant to be an all-in-one business-in-a-box for people with neither the skills nor the resources to set up such systems themselves. The company is small (4, currently) and just raised a seed round of a few million, so they've got money to throw at problems.
The role itself is broadly full-stack on a typical Typescript/React/Node stack sitting on AWS. Reliability and security are somewhat more important than most startups, since they're building (effectively) business infrastructure in a regulated space.
This role is fully in-office in San Francisco. They're willing to offer relocation assistance, but the in-office requirement is non-negotiable.
What they're looking for
[Required]
2+ years of experience as a full-stack engineer
General "startupy" traits (high pace, longish work hours [though not extreme by startup standards], willingness to work with ambiguous problems)
[Nice-to-have]
Familiarity with HIPAA/regulated industries or FHIR (a health data interchange format)
Familiarity with devex/dev infra and tooling, e.g. setting up CI/CD
What they're offering
Salary: $160-210k
Equity: 1.5-2%
Insurance, medical, dental, 401k
Socially-positive mission: there's nothing morally ambiguous about treating developmental delays) and in terms of social good
Hiring process
20 min nontechnical intro call
Short technical call (possibly skipped for our candidates)
Technical take-home
Call w/cofounder (behavioral interview)
1-day onsite, paid
