Founding back-end engineer
Location:
Remote OK, office pref.
San Francisco
Salary/equity:
$170k-225k
0.2-1.0%
Role/industry:
Back-end
Healthcare / AI
Exp. floor:
4 years
Brief description
This is an early back-end role with a healthcare process-automation startup. They focus on AI automation of prescription medication benefits processes in the US healthcare system. Think prior authorization for medications or the process of applying for financial assistance for qualifying patients, that kind of thing.
This role involves a fair amount of forward-deployed work and "data plumbing" with client systems, since their product is essentially an abstraction layer over those systems. That makes it a good fit for engineers who like working directly with customers and external users.
Their stack is a fairly typical Node/TS for the product side + Python for the ML side.
They are open to excellent remote candidates, but have a strong preference for candidates willing to work from their San Francisco office.
What they're looking for
[Required]
4+ years of experience
Some background with Node or Typescript
You need to have built and launched something relatively complete before - not just worked on small components of a larger system. (Be prepared to give an example.)
Standard startup stuff: independent, OK working with a lot of ambiguity.
[Nice to have]
Open to in-office in San Francisco
Good documentation/testing habits (reliability matters here)
Background with setting up CI/CD or other dev automation/ops-side-of-devops areas
Experience with health tech, particularly e.g. regulatory compliance
Experience as a forward-deployed engineer working with clients
What they're offering
Salary: $170-225k
Equity: 0.2 - 1.0%
Frequent company offsites to the mountains, e.g. Tahoe
