Senior full-stack engineer

Location:

In-office

NYC or San Francisco

Salary/equity:

(n/a, role closed)

Role/industry:

Full-stack

Finance / mobile gaming

Brief description

Generalist senior front-end-leaning full-stack product engineering role at an early-stage startup. Their product is a shop infrastructure for mobile games - think shopify but for in-game microtransactions. Seed-stage with funding from Andreessen-Horowitz (one of the most prestigious venture capital firms)'s gaming investment arm.

What they're looking for

(Note that they also have a more junior role for <3 YOE, if you know someone else looking.)

[Required]

  • 5+ YOE.

  • Willing to work in-office in New York City or San Francisco.

  • Willing to work long hours at a fast-moving startup. They suggest an expectation of about 50 hours a week on a typical week, and 60 near deadlines and launches (although if they are like most startups they're more concerned with output than hours on the clock).

  • Comfort and familiarity with Typescript.

  • Comfort with React

[Important]

  • Like most startups, they're looking for passion about their space (gaming and gaming monetization) and a compelling narrative for why you want to work at a startup in general and for them in particular.

  • Experience implementing design systems in code

[Nice-to-have]

  • Experience at hyper-growth startups.

  • Background in payments, ecommerce, or fintech.

What they're offering

  • Salary: 180-200k/year + substantial early-stage equity.

  • Industrious (https://www.industriousoffice.com/) office space (they describe it as open/large).

  • [They didn't explicitly say this, but probably typical medical/dental - it's a full-time role and we'd be stunned if they weren't offering reasonable healthcare benefits, though it's worth checking if you want to be absolutely sure.]

Hiring process

  • Interview with us [otherbranch]

  • 30 min intro with their head of engineering

  • 1 hour technical session via Coderpad

  • Onsite: 1 hour with one of their engs, 1 hour collaboration session with product, design, or go-to-market leads, 1 hour behavioral interview with the head of eng

  • Final CEO interview (60 min) if onsite passed. This is going to be primarily a culture-fit/why-do-you-want-to-work-for-us-specifically thing.
